Universities Australia (UA) has made a submission to the House Standing Committee on Indigenous Affairs inquiry into opportunities for employment and economic development for Indigenous Australians.

This report show the extent of participation by international students in work integrated learning (WIL). It also examines the challenges facing international students in engaging with WIL opportunities, and provides suggestions on how universities and employers can improve opportunities for international students to have a beneficial WIL experience.

The purpose of this report is to outline key initiatives by universities to improve Indigenous higher education participation and success and deepen relationships and knowledge in institutions. The report draws on 2017 sector-wide statistics and qualitative information provided by universities in survey responses.
