The purpose of this review was to assure the federal government and the Australian public that exporters can meet our high animal welfare standards and also to identify any regulatory and investigative improvements that can be made.

The Public Interest Disclosure Act 2013 (the PID Act) commenced in January 2014. This independent review considered the impact of the Act on individuals seeking to make disclosures; the impact of the Act on agencies; the breadth of disclosable conduct and the interaction between the Act and other procedures for investigating wrongdoing.

Submitted to the government in early February 2015, this independent review by former integrity commissioner Philip Moss was released to the public on 20 March 2015.
