This report discusses inclusion and diversity in the board rooms of the 75 largest not-for-profit disability service providers in Australia. It finds that just over a fifth of the providers have two or more leaders with disabilities currently serving on their boards and all of these boards reported positive outcomes from the appointments.

This article outlines a model for researching the boards of disability service providers and their influence on quality and safeguarding, and contributes ideas towards a research agenda.

This article addresses the question of to what extent changes in legislation and regulatory standards in aged care and disability create new expectations of these boards and directors.
