This study investigates how filtering contributes to market-provided, low-income housing in Australia. It critiques the conceptualisation of filtering as a source of housing for low-income households, tests for the presence of filtering dynamics in housing markets (using Melbourne and Sydney as case studies) and considers policy options for enhancing filtering as a policy tool.

COVID-19: rental housing and homelessness impacts – an initial analysis
Gains made on reducing homelessness during the pandemic last year are slipping away. Less than a third of those assisted with temporary hotel accommodation during the crisis were later transitioned into longer-term affordable housing, mainly due to a shortage of social housing available, according to this research.
