This paper presents an interdependent set of technical, organisational, and social challenges to be addressed en route to library operationalisation of data science, machine learning, and artificial intelligence (AI).

This article examines what it might mean to treat digitized and born digital collections as data, rather than simple surrogates of physical objects or static representations of digital experience.
