This longitudinal survey provides comprehensive findings about young Australians’ news attitudes, practices and experiences. The 2023 survey analysis shows that news plays an important role in young people’s everyday lives and most young people get news from diverse sources.

Between 28 February and 16 March 2020, researchers surveyed a nationally representative sample of 1,069 young Australians aged 8-16 years to understand their news engagement practices and experiences. This report outlines the findings.
