The 2019 Whitlam Oration was delivered by UN High Commissioner for Human Rights, Michelle Bachelet, at the Seymour Centre (Sydney) on October 9, 2019.

The Whitlam Oration has become a respected platform for prominent Australians to provide serious commentary on the contemporary relevance of the Whitlam Legacy and to contribute to public debate. This Oration continues this great tradition.

With higher education in the spotlight and legislation before the federal parliament, the Whitlam Institute has released this paper, which offers a bold and personal account of how universities have ‘fallen from grace.'
