This report forms part of the commission’s annual report series and meets its obligation to report annually on compliance by Australian government departments and agencies with the government’s Regulation Impact Statement (RIS) requirements.

Many governments see energy efficiency improvements as a low-cost means of reducing emissions of greenhouse gases. However, the scope for achieving environmental gains through increasing the uptake of only those energy efficiency improvements that are privately cost effective appears to be modest at current and expected energy prices.

The Productivity Commission has been requested to undertake a research study to examine issues impacting on the health workforce including the supply of, and demand for, health workforce professionals, and propose solutions to ensure the continued delivery of quality health care over the next 10 years.
