Australia faces a rapidly escalating breakdown in information integrity. Climate disinformation is evolving from a communications issue into a national security challenge. This report finds that government efforts are not commensurate with the sheer scale, resourcing and coordination of disinformation networks. It provides recommendations for systemic approaches, initial steps and as a task for government.

This report provides an overview of an efficacious climate risk assessment methodology, analyses the current failure, explores four case studies and identifies specific and necessary priority actions for the Australian government.

This report argues that the Australian Government should make public a declassified version of the Office of National Intelligence’s Climate Security Risk Assessment in order to help ground the current national debate on defence priorities, China and submarines.
