A precautionary approach to social media: protecting young minds in an evolving digital world

This paper argues that the debate over whether social media's impact on mental health is correlational or causal should not delay actions to protect young people's wellbeing. Addressing the impact of social media on young people’s mental health requires a proactive, multifaceted approach. Alongside multifaceted action, the paper provides recommendations for a research agenda.

The study examined the prevalence of and variation in the quality and safety of care provided to older Australians who received subsidised long term care during 2019, by type of care. It found marked national variations. The findings could be used to identify areas of aged care that could be targeted by quality improvement programs.

At this ten-year anniversary, this article reflects on what has been achieved by the standards, as well as future challenges and opportunities. The article outlines how the standards work to effect change, evidence of impact and future directions.

Evaluating the impact of COVID‐19 vaccination strategies on infections and hospitalisations in Victoria with non‐seasonal epidemic wave patterns

This study assessed the impact of different COVID‐19 vaccination strategies on infections and hospitalisations in the context of non‐seasonal epidemic waves. It concludes that annual COVID‐19 vaccination campaigns at the same time as those for influenza could reduce the number of COVID‐19‐related hospitalisations.
