Description
Wendy Seymour writes that technology offers the potential to free people with a disability from dependence and immersion in interventionist/therapeutic regimes of the past by enabling them to participate more fully in society and to take an active and creative role in their own embodiment. In order to facilitate this process, a clearer understanding of the perceptions of risk and apprehension that these people experience is essential. Determining the nature and extent of such fears will facilitate techno-cultural participation, and offer people with a disability a stronger sense of citizenship.
