Report
Description
2024 was a pivotal year for the National Disability Insurance Scheme, with the most substantial changes to NDIS laws since the scheme started more than a decade ago. This report provides an overview of the most significant developments and what the changes mean for people with disability.
This report covers changes that affect:
- how decisions about access to the NDIS are made
- how plans are developed and structured
- which supports will be funded for participants
- National Disability Insurance Agency powers, with a new power to compel participants to provide information.
The report analyses NDIS case decisions by the Administrative Appeals Tribunal and Federal Court that will have ongoing influence over decision-making.
It also foreshadows what can be expected in 2025 and discusses government commitments to co-design further reforms and develop ‘foundational supports’ for people with disability outside the NDIS.
