Description
The review aimed to identify any barriers or impediments that may exist in Australia with respect to private sector support for the arts.
It recommended strengthening existing government initiatives to encourage private support and considering some new initiatives such as tax breaks for testamentary giving, matched funding from government, micro loans for the arts and support for crowd funding.
Research conducted as a part of the Mitchell Review found those earning over $1 million a year give less than 2% of their income to charity, compared with a global average of 10%.
